First Time

  • Drinks Tried: Love Latte and Mocha Latte

The second coffee shop I made on the journey through the Summit County Drip Drive was Yada Yada Cafe in Downtown Cuyahoga Falls (my mom joined). This one was a little away from the hustle and bustle. But during the hour we were there at least 15 people came in and out. Walking up the cafe you get the artsy feel as there’s a store selling miscellaneous items a tin dog sculpture right by the stairs leading up the entrance.

Right when you enter-the counter is RIGHT THERE. We had two gentleman greet us. I looked around and it gave kind’ve what a cozy cafe should feel like-woodsy, mismatched furniture, the walls were stripped down to original cinder blocks with some burlap sacks with coffee logos hanging on the walls. The only negative thing about the interior was that the ceiling wasn’t finished. There was another open room across the entrance with more of the cozy, mismatched feel- I really can’t describe it. The decor was nice and made sense but at the same time it didn’t. I was trying to figure out what they were aiming for. They had 3 signature seasonal drinks. One caught our eye-the Love Latte. It consisted of espresso, steamed whole milk, rose, cardamom, pink pepper, and sandalwood syrup.

When we had the barista describe it-all he could say was rose, rose, rose. So we thought we’d go for it and leave our comfort zone. We (to be safe) got our own latte’s that we would normally get on any given day. I got a mocha while mom got caramel. The gentleman told me that this chocolate comes from Tanzania and how great it was-so naturally I was excited to try it. I took one sip and got the non-overboard chocolate flavor but the next sip-none. The sips after that-none. Compared to Asterisk’s latte-it was not good. It was just straight up milk…not even a taste of espresso. Sad.

We soon got our love latte (pic above) and we were excited! The latte art was that of a heart. Very nicely done. We took a sip-no rose-but lots of sandalwood flavor. It wasn’t bad at all but was just missing the star ingredient. When my mom said there was no rose the barista just stood there and just said “okay, it’s very subtle”-it was so subtle it was non-existent. For us, Yada Yada may have turned into a Nada Nada.

Second Time

  • Drink Tried: Iced Flat White
  • Rating Updated: 2.8/5 Stars

My good friend Sarah and I were looking to get together for the first time since college ended. I asked if she wanted to get coffee and if there was anywhere she wanted to go. She said “Yada Yada.” I sighed to be honest because I didn’t have the greatest experience two weeks ago; however, I agreed to go. I decided I’d take the opportunity to try something new and see if that was any better.

As we were in line I noticed they took away their love latte (hmm) but I stared at the menu trying to figure out WTF I was going to get. I finally decided on the Iced Flat White. I asked the man (who I believe was the owner) who was taking my order if he liked the flat white iced or hot better (as I’ve never had one before). He was of no help and didn’t give me recommendations so I stuck with iced. It was okay-just average. The customer service really isn’t the best. To me, this coffee shop is average. Hopefully, there’ll be a spark soon.

Third Time-3 Strikes…You’re Out!

  • Drink Tried: Black Forest Mocha
  • Rating Updated: 2.4/5

So my friend Sophia wanted to come here and I said, “well maybe 3rd times the charm.” I have never been more wrong. I’m going to keep this brief. Cute inside…not great quality. Maybe it’s just their specialty coffee’s that suck.

The Black Forest Mocha I got was mocha with cherry syrup and almond milk (only other option was oat). Briefly, it tasted like watered down almond milk with a hint of mocha. Like the rose, there was no cherry. This was also $6.
