First Time

  • Drink Tried: Maple Almond Latte

What I knew going into this was that this was the same coffee shop as Asterisk. Asterisk (what I was told) is the 2nd store. When I looked online and saw they had the exact same menu and knew the coffee shops were siblings…I had high expectations.

I walked 10 minutes from the courthouse and saw the white sign on the sidewalk over the hill (my star of Bethlehem). I booked it. When I walked in I was surprised by how small it was. This was 1/3 the size of Asterisk. Really not the type of coffee shop to sit and have a conversation but, then again, you’re in Downtown Akron where lots are small. I did like the inside. Right when you walk in to your left is an old roaster (which was neat). Then, of course, the counter, and then to your right (semi in front of you) are various coffee burlap bags. Overall, it didn’t look disorganized but it was one step above the Muggswigz in Akron environment. Asterisk’s environment is much better.

Because I didn’t have the greatest Maple Almond Latte experience at Asterisk I decided I’d give it another shot with its big sibling.

This was much better; however, there were inconsistencies with the maple flavor making a cameo in some sips and exit stage left on the other sips. The almond taste was consistent and not overpowering. I would order this here again rather than Asterisk. I am pleased that even the big sib lives up to the consistency of service and product.
