First Time

  • Items Tried: Iced Mocha with Strawberry and Marshmallow Syrup/Rosemary Bagel with Plain Cream Cheese

My good friend Abby and I decided (because we haven’t seen each other in awhile) to get coffee. We both were doing the Summit County Drip Drive. She recommended we go to Kave because she liked it from last year’s and I had never been to Kave or Barberton (only passing through).

She picked me up and we had a nice 20 minute drive on a very nice day with few clouds in the sky.

We got into Downtown Barberton. It reminded me of a smaller Downtown Cuyahoga Falls (as if it wasn’t small enough). The buildings looked the same as C-Falls (1920’s type 2-3 story). They had a movie theater and a bookstore (from what I remember).

We entered Kave. Very spacious. Tables, lounge chairs, couches, books, a fireplace. Probably the best interior so far on my Drip Drive adventure. The windows gave a good view of the Downtown scene. The cashier was friendly and had the patience of a Saint waiting for Abby and I to order lol. I wanted to try a specialty drink which was really their staff curated drinks. I decided to try (I think) Sam’s: Iced Mocha with Strawberry and Marshmallow syrup. It was more of a dessert drink than coffee; however, I was pleasantly surprised by how everything came together without one overpowering the other. It also wasn’t very sweet, moreover, it tasted like a chocolate covered strawberry.

Trip around Downtown during First Visit

Abby and I decided to walk 2 minutes over to Lake Anna. On our way we saw a statue of Glenn “Jeep” Dans, Barberton’s very own Olympic hurdler and sprinter. We figured while we were there we’d learn about the history. There were some people walking Lake Anna that day. Some were also fishing, sitting, or relaxing. Lots of geese and ducks. They were adorable.

If you were wondering, Lake Anna is not man-made. It is a kettle lake formed by a melting glacier. There are also 4 churches around the lake.

We walked 2 loops and I was hankering for food. So we went back into Kave and I got a Rosemary Bagel with Plain Cream Cheese. Sooo good. The rosemary was accentuated by the mild cream cheese.
