Intro: From BC 1996 edition

Prep: 25min; Bake: 1hr 20min; Cool: 15min

Makes: About 3 1/2 dozen cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup stick margarine or butter…softened
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup slivered almonds, toasted and chopped
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Beat sugar, margarine, orange peel, and eggs in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking powder, salt and almonds
  3. Shape half of dough at a time into rectangle, 10x3in on ungreased cookie sheet (because I was dumb I took the dough in my hands and rolled them in a log then baked them. So mine look flipping deformed haha)
  4. Bake about 20min or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on cookie sheet 15min
  5. Cut cross-wise into 1/2in slices (I just cut each of my logs in half and said ‘welp’). Place slices cut sides down on cookie sheet.
  6. Bake about 15min or until crisp and light brown. Remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.

Taste: Tastes like orange and almonds

Comment: Bella, the taste makes up for the deformity haha
