The Way There

From Pymatuning, it was a nice little drive to the village of Geneva-on-the-Lake. The downtown seemed quaint and if I wasn’t on a time crunch I would have explored downtown Geneva. If you like wine, this is also known as ‘Wine Country’ with over 30 wineries in the area.

What I Did

I passed under overhang entrance sign ‘Geneva-On-The-Lake’ and could see snippets of the lake. It was very windy and cold but being by a lake, especially Lake Erie, would make it that way. I parked near the entrance to the paved trail dubbed ‘Geneva Orange Trail’ which was a 4 mile out and back trail. I didn’t plan on doing the entire thing.

The paved trail went along some small cottages and then to the big lodge (reminiscent of Lakeside Chautauqua). The paved path can also be used for biking in which a few people passed by me.

The wind whipped and the waves crashed along the rocks. As I was walking I believe I passed by Cowles Creek-a stream that goes under the bridge into the lake. There was a fisherman down there.

As I neared the parking lot I turned around to head back. I wish I could’ve enjoyed more but those cottages are calling my name to stay.
