My Experience

After visiting my friend in Slippery Rock, I decided to head to the nearest state park which was Moraine. I was excited to finally expand my adventures to a different state.

Because I was on limited time, I decided to do a short and sweet trail: Sunken Garden (which can also go longer depending on the loop). I did the 1.70 mile loop.

I parked near the water where you can get your kayak or watercraft into the water and walked into the trail. There were people either picnicking or walking around.

My trail almost immediately started along the lakeshore, which I loved. The views were immaculate. Some people were fishing and a lot of people were walking the opposite way of me. What made this better was that it was a crisp, autumn day and I was surrounded by yes, green, somewhat, but also a red, orange, and yellow splendor.

The lake was calm with slight ripples and I could hear the crunch crunch of the leaves. I then heard some thuds on a tree! I looked up, wondering what it was, and saw a woodpecker pecking away!

My trail then went into the woods as I was heading back. I crossed over some dark wooden bridges over some water. On my way back, I saw a woman looking at some trees with pink-ish leaves. She looked at me and said, “Aren’t those interesting?” She truly looked at them in wonder.

I walked somewhat behind her and went back to my car. The trail I did was so relaxing and it was so nice to be back on a state park adventure.
