First Visit
- Things Tried: Cinnamon Roll Iced Latte and Asiago Bagel with Egg, Cheese, and Spinach
On a day where classes were canceled, I decided to take a spontaneous trip to a new coffee shop. Across from the colorful umbrella alley is the laid-back coffee shop ‘Uptown Joe.’ I’ve only been to Louisville once and it’s a quaint little spot with numerous shops and, of course, the infamous umbrella alley.

I tried to parallel park but that didn’t work so well and as I was backing back into the road a car almost ran into me so that was fun haha. I walked in near 11 and was one of four people. Their menu had a good amount for a small cafe. I looked at their specialties and had to make a decision between the cinnamon roll iced latte and the dark chocolate latte. The decision was a hard one but the winner was the cinnamon roll latte. I also wanted something to eat so I got an egg and cheese on an asiago bagel and added spinach.

There’s a lot of seating in the back and I sat in a nook. Overall, the interior was okay…nothing stood out to me and I declare it average. There is a barista up front and a cook in the back I found out.
I was given my bagel and drink and headed outside. I sipped the latte and ‘holy sh!t’ I was drinking a cinnamon roll. Like other coffee shops, there is a hint of cinnamon and it’s mostly milk tasting but this one-oh my gosh it was chalked full of cinnamon which really balanced with the whole milk. It was delicious! The bagel was decent and was better than Tremont’s. However, the spinach was packed in the upper middle of each half so I got all the spinach and only the spinach in one bite. Wasn’t that tasty lol.

Overall, ‘Uptown Joe’ was a decent coffee shop that has a lot of potential. The only negative thing was the interior-it didn’t give me any coffee shop
